Vacations on the beach
Soft white sand, impossibly blue bath-warm waters, a smattering of palm fronds for shade and an ice cold cocktail in hand – the perfect beach experience. It’s about as close as we get to the picture postcard image of a relaxing vacation, and luckily for us, the world is overflowing with them.

Varadero Beach, Matanzas Province, Cuba
Located in the province of Matanzas, Varadero is the most famous beach resort in Cuba, and one of the largest resorts in the Caribbean. Also known as 'Blue Beach' because of its clear, calm waters, Varadero is fronted by a 20km (12-mile) fine white sandy beach, which is bathed by the warm waters of the Gulf Stream.
The beach, Varadero's main attraction, is the 'backyard' of all hotels in Varadero, whose 20km (12 miles) of turquoise water and sandy beach allow tourists to take long walks along the ocean. It presents a necklace of virgin cays easy to reach and a very well preserved natural landscape at the northeastern end of the peninsula. It is possible to dive, and the best place to take diving lessons is the Barracuda International Diving Center (Avenida Primera, esquina 59).
Grace Bay Beach, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
Described as the “hallmark of the Turks & Caicos islands”, Grace Bay Beach is second to none. It is considered one of the most stunning places for a beach holiday. For that reason alone, it is definitely worth visiting at least once.
The consistency of this beach (the entire stretch is gorgeous) is one of the things that makes it stand out most, in addition to the calmness of the water, which is attributed to a barrier reef about a mile away from the beach. At around 3 miles long, Grace Bay is connected to Leeward Beach on its eastern side, and on the west, to Bight Beach. The entire beach area spans seven and a half miles (12km), from Blue Hills to Northwest Point, which you can walk if you’re feeling ambitious!
Eagle Beach, Oranjestad, Aruba
Eagle Beach (or Arend Beach) is a beach and neighborhood of Oranjestad, Aruba. The neighborhood is famous for its many low-rise resorts and wide public beach. It has soft white sand and has been rated one of the best beaches in the world. Another of Aruba's most popular beaches is Baby Beach.
This is not a nude beach. Public nudity is illegal on Aruba. Topless sunbathing is tolerated on beaches in resort areas, however this is not allowed on resort grounds. Topless beaches include The Renaissance Island and De Palm Island. These islands have adult beach areas where topless sunbathing and swimming are allowed.
Anse Lazio, Praslin Island, Seychelles
Anse Lazio is a beach situated in the northwest of Praslin Island, Seychelles, considered by Lonely Planet to be the "best beach on Praslin", and one of the "best in the archipelago". Located to the north east of Madagascar, east of Zanzibar and south of Socotra, in the middle of the Indian Ocean, it has clear water and scenery which can be perceived as beautiful, which attracts a large portion of Praslin's tourists.
The beach is bordered by large granite boulders. However, unlike other beaches in the Seychelles, Anse Lazio is not protected by a coral reef.
Praia do Sancho, State of Pernambuco, Brazil
Nestled on the small island of Fernando de Noronha — about an hour off the coast of Brazil — the remote Praia do Sancho is consistently voted one of the world’s best beaches. But while its beauty is easy to appreciate, the beach itself is hard to reach. You have to hike, scoot down a dark narrow tunnel and descend steep stairs to finally reach this pristine beach. Since it’s located in a national park, you also have to pay to access it. The palm-fringed cliffside, golden sands and blindingly-blue waters are worth every penny and every bit of the adventure, though.
La Concha Beach, Basque Country, Spain
The Beach of La Concha (Basque: Kontxa Hondartza [kontʃa ondarts̻a]; Spanish: Playa de La Concha [ˈplaʝa ðe la ˈkontʃa], "cone shell beach") is a crescent shaped urban seaboard of the city of San Sebastián located at the Bay of La Concha in the Basque Country, northern Spain. Its remarkably regular shape, the scenic setting in the Bay of La Concha and the 19th century elegance of fashionable seaside resorts have made the site very popular, as it is frequently cited as one of the most beautiful and the most famous urban beaches in Europe.
It is a sandy beach and shallow substrate, in which the tide fluctuation greatly affects the area available for use. It can be considered an urban beach in widespread use.
